Progress!

I only recently put up a blog entry today but I've made some more steps forward with the contents page. The image shows how I generally go about creating the layout. I take a number of steps:

• Basic Layout (i.e. Lines and Pictures in approximate position)
• Insert Text - I put in the appropriate text (or placeholders), but not in the final font, this is so I can tweak the layout accordingly and spot flaws or changes needed to be made.
• Insert the fonts I want to use and add colour to the text.
• Finish off all of the text and add last changes to layout.

I've been working through my feature article, which I've just about finished and also started my contents page. Although I intend to create a post at the end showing the progression and how I constructed both the article and contents page step by step. But for now, heres a screen shot of where I'm at with the contents.

Plan for the week

I've been working on the magazine all week and hope to upload a video showing the different stages of my progress through the development of the feature article pages. Unlike the way I presented the progress of the front cover, where I did a prezi powerpoint and was limited by the amount of space on each slide, I'm going to narrate through the progress, talking about the decisions I made, the changes that I had to do and what tools I used to achieve certain affects.

Thoughts so far and Update

I think my feature article is coming along really well. I still have a while to go, but after I've finished the first double spread I should have the hang of it and be able to complete the second one in no time. The contents is fairly easy content-wise, because I don't need to come up with an entire article. However an authentic layout can be hard to replicate and thinking of all the band names and their article titles can be hard. I think I can be finished both sides of my feature article by next friday and be a good way through my contents page, if not finished as well.

I still have a lot to do with adding more text to the left side and maybe add another image, but i've nearly finished the first half of my Feature Article.

I've altered the layout of the feature article so it looks more original, while still retaining some of the influence from the style model.

I interviewed 3 people that fitted into my demographic to get a very summarised view of what people might think of it. I'm currently editing the footage to showcase their response. I've left a preview image below:

Feature Article Update #2

I added a orange photo filter over my image and sharpened it so it looked nicer and wasn't as blury. I've put in the beginning of my feature article, manipulate colours and added shapes. I neeed to add more text and maybe another photo.

This is my current situation with the front cover. I still need to add my text, change some of the fonts, and boxes and potentially make some changes to the layout.
